The Allegheny Riverfront Trail located in Pittsburgh’s Strip District is part of a larger multi-modal trail system collectively referred to as the 3 Rivers Heritage Trails. The portion of the trail between 11th and 16th Streets contains an array of spatial segments from asphalt adjacent monolithic poured concrete retainers to exposed aggregate with pedestrian pockets containing site amenities.
Improvements pull elements from each segment and overlaps material themes such as Belgian block, lighting and site amenities, thereby creating a harmonious trail experience. Waterfront properties, such as the “EDGE 1909” consider the trail upgrades a huge selling point when marketing their residences.
