PVEDI provided structural, environmental, and MEP engineering services for a 67,000 SF ground-up charter school in the Mt. Eden neighborhood of the Bronx, New York, completed in July 2024. Serving as the Engineer of Record for the mechanical systems, PVEDI designed sub-slab, above-grade, and rooftop exhaust systems and distribution. The project, the sixth campus in the FLACS network, includes modern classrooms, a sixth-floor gymnasium, and rooftop and ground-level recreational courtyards. Developed on a formerly underutilized and contaminated site (auto repair, gas station, and parking lot), the project required ongoing environmental remediation efforts beginning in 2020. PVEDI addressed complex site constraints with an integrated design approach, including structural support for a rooftop solar array and coordination of environmental remediation, enabling the successful redevelopment of a challenging urban site.
